Lockdown Diaries: 6 Quick Things You Can Do In A Workday At Home

It's Day 101 or 102 many days into Lock down in sunny South Africa! Things have certainly been a bit of a blur these past few months. Let's be real, some of us may not really remember or want to remember the going on's of life in lock down/pandemic problems and you're probably peddling the idea of giving up smoking considering the black market prices of cigarettes.

While stuff might be hard out there, some of us still have the opportunity of being holed up in our homes, prepping for the second wave of COVID-19. Schools are open, commerce is abuzz and Lock down level 3: Advanced makes it seem as if life goes on the regular with face masks and alcoholic hand sanitiser everywhere. Yeah, your hands have probably absorbed more alcohol than your body has in a while considering the sale of drinkable alcohol is only permitted Monday-Thursday from 8am/9am to 5pm  officially closed!

But today's post is much more than a mere reminder of our state of life... We have put together some tips, tricks and quirks to make Work from Home fun again! You might have adjusted to lounge wear and/or wearing no pants during Zoom meetings but here are some cool things you can do in 15 minutes during your work-day.

  • Read: Simple as it seems opting, to read something other than your work emails can help stimulate other parts of your brain for a bit. Creativity is a state of mind that we often ignore until we have the time for it on weekends or after work. But why not ride a creativity wave in the middle of the day? Who knows, maybe it might help your overall productivity at 2pm.

  • Clean out your sock or undergarment drawer: Yeah, I'm looking at you! When was the last time you've gone through these historic drawers and emptied out the sock singles and those holey undergarments? Take a few moments to dump out this drawer and sort through the "ugh" ones you no longer like or don't serve you well. Take the remaining batch and dump it in the wash with a ton of fabric softener and put it through a wash and dry cycle. You'll feel amazingly accomplishment afterwards and not to mention have lovely smelling undies and socks for the next day!

  • Learn a quick something: Don't know how to make rice? Poached eggs? Want to learn how to draw cats? There's a tutorial for that. Hop onto YouTube and search for quick tutorials. You can learn so much in the span of 15 to use for later. We love quick and easy recipes the most... Because, who doesn't love foodie or a shortened amount of time in the kitchen?

  • Set a timer and video call a friend/family member you like. If there is anything that is needed during isolation; it's company! Have a quick laugh and bring up some old memories!

  • Another thing
Schedule something nice at the end of your day, a movie, a meal for 2. A video call with your special person if you're still in self-quarantine/different places.

These are scary times people and no one really has the answers. Go with the flow and you'll get that glow back!
