Things To Do On Valentine's Day: The Solo Edition

Howdy friends!

Happy Valentine's or (Anti-Valentine's?) Day to Everyone!

Bit of a late post, though just in time if you're looking for entertainment. If you're in a relationship, chances are you already have plans tonight. Good for you.

But if you're currently at work, wondering what the bananas to do tonight and possibly feeling sorry for yourself then fear not! We have comprehensive guide of things to do just for you. I know, Valentine's Day can sometimes be a hard day and night for people, if you're reeling from a heartbreak or feel "forever" alone ( I promise this is not the end of life) then hop onto some of these ideas for the evening!

1. Spa Time: Whether you're a DIY girl or prefer to lap in luxury; enjoy a spa night in! What better excuse than the day of Love to pamper yourself! Book a late evening massage or pop past Dischem and grab a face mask, get yourself home and light a few candles. Self-care is that centre of life in the modern era. If things are tight then throw together a home made mask:
  • 1/2 Avocado.or 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of honey.
  • A handful of oats or oat bran.
Combine these nourishing ingredients in a mixing bowl and paste in on. Leave for 15 minutes and you'll feel like you have a brand new face!

2. Movie Night/ Netflix: No, we're not referring to your usual take out and binge watching movie night. Take the time to really enjoy a movie night to remember. Save yourself R200 by opting for some good old stove popped or microwave popped popcorn and your choice of soft drink or bottle of wine and don't forget an additional chocolatey snack! Pick a movie of your choice, whether it's old or new, chick flick or action, it's your night and choice after all! If you're looking for a great chick flick, we have a comprehensive list of our favourites here. Don't forget your cutest or most comfortable pajamas! If you're feeling super extra, set the mood with some fairy light, a chenille throw and some cupcakes and invite some girlfriends or your mom over!

 3. Shop: Spoil yourself with a mini shopping spree! Nothing stops you from spoiling yourself and giving yourself things you love! Whether it's a new book or lingerie and chocolate. You're allowed to occasionally spend on yourself! Opt for sale stores if you're a budget and limit yourself to one store if you're on a tighter budget. If you're not the shopping type then get yourself a bunch of flowers to spruce up your space.

4. Cook or Bake Yourself a Beautiful Meal: If you're feeling productive, you can opt for a night in with the kitchen! Cook or bake something that tantalises your tastebuds! It could be a trusted recipe or something brand new! Did you know that cooking and/or baking can actually be therapeutic for some? Alternatively, if you're afraid of setting your house on fire, take yourself out for a meal or coffee and cake! There are no stigmas attached to eating alone in our current age. Take your favourite book or pair of headphones to listen to some podcasts.

5. Do something nice for a loved one: Make a cute card or bake some yummy treats for your niece or friend's kid. A little goes a long way with children and they will definitely be more appreciative of your little gestures. Don't forget about your folks! They sometimes need a little treat too!

6. Go out: If you're dreading being alone tonight, then just call up some mates and find out what they're doing and make a night out of it! It doesn't matter that it's Valentine's Day. It still counts as Friday and you're totally allowed! Hit the town and head to a bar! If you're not the type then make a movie and dinner night out of it!
